PORTFOLIO > Pandemic 2020-2021

These paintings and installations were made during the lockdown resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. I am an only child and a natural “homebody”, choosing the solitude of my studio over social interactions. However the isolation resulting from the pandemic felt very different. The scale of anxiety and death from the virus coupled with the state sanctioned violence against BIPOC bodies caused me to simultaneously look deeply inward and reevaluate my isolation as an artist. This is the work that brought me through the fear and pain of the pandemic to a new orientation as an artist and a healer. From the earliest fast and loose visionary drawings of animal talisman to the slow large meditative self portraits, to the bright community oriented angel installations; I found my creativity to be my rock inside of the storm and a gift to others.
